Broadmead Welcomes New Resident, Carolyn Riefle

Born in Baltimore and raised in Roland Park, Carolyn Riefle attended Hood College, which she loved, and majored in education. After graduation she taught early childhood education: pre-school, kindergarten, and first grade.

Carolyn then married a military man and began a life of travel, from Wyoming, Ohio, and Alabama, to France. Of these, Wyoming was her clear favorite, and she was happy to stay there for four years. After her marriage dissolved, Carolyn returned to Baltimore and worked for 24 years in customer relations at BGE.

After she retired, Carolyn moved to Havre de Grace. She has two daughters, Caroline and Laurie, and a son, David. They are scattered, living in Crofton, MD, in California, and in Minnesota. There are seven grandchildren.

Carolyn volunteered for Scouting and for the House of Ruth hotline, dealing frequently with desperate calls in the middle of the night. She says she is ready for a fresh start at Broadmead. In addition to being in touch with her children, her hobbies are walking, knitting, and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
