Broadmead is the
most experienced
continuing care retirement community
in Maryland. The community was founded in 1976 by the Baltimore Monthly
Meeting of Friends~ Stony Run, a local Quaker Meeting. It welcomed its
first residents in the fall of 1979 and quickly achieved full
occupancy.
The community
is operated in the spirit of the Religious Society of Friends under
which all individuals are treated equitably with dignity and
appreciation for individual differences. In the Quaker tradition it
welcomes persons of all faiths. From its beginning, Broadmead has been
a warm, caring community with an exciting and intellectually
stimulating atmosphere. It is designed for people who wish to maintain
maximum independence with the assurance of professional health care and
personal support, should the need arise. Broadmead
encourages the personal independence of older individuals and offers
the opportunity to pursue a productive and satisfying life.
