When our residents arrive at Broadmead, they bring an amazing collection of diverse experiences, stories, and skills to our community. They have initiated events such as our recent African Art Exhibit, joined the Multicultural Committee, engaged in diversity-related dialogues, and taken part in lectures on Asian American identity, the racial justice movement, and many other topics. Their backgrounds and experiences enhance this Life Plan Community long known for its beauty, convenience, and Quaker-inspired values - where a lifestyle of integrity, inclusion and simplicity thrives by gathering not just a diverse group of neighbors, but friends. No matter where you come from - big city or small town, traveled the world or traveled your back woods - all paths into Broadmead lead to the same neighborhood.
Certifying Our History of Integrity and Inclusion
Broadmead's Quaker-inspired values, including integrity and inclusion, continue to shape our community. In 2022, these values showed in our commitment to becoming Platinum Certified by SAGECare. SAGECare is a division of SAGE, the country’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults.
Our certification means that a minimum of 80% of our employees have completed one hour of LGBTQ+ aging training, while at least 80% of our administrators and executives have completed 4 hours of the same training with live coaching. It is with this training that Broadmead remains dedicated to upholding our values and welcome diversity of all types on campus.
