Introducing Broadmead's New Health Care Food Service Manager

Story by Penny Partlow

Travin West, Health Care Food Service Manager, likes to recount that he has come up through the ranks. A graduate of Anne Arundel Community College as a Certified Dietary Manager, Travin started in 2004 as a dishwasher at a skilled nursing care facility, where he moved through the system in housekeeping, utilities, prep cook, head cook, supervisor, and assistant manager.

West is responsible for dietary regulation of all residents on Taylor and Hallowell, where he manages day-to-day operations and the 14 employees of food service on the licensed care floors. His initial concentration is on getting to know his individual patients. His welcoming smile and gentle manner will serve him well there.

West met his wife, Janya, through his previous employment where she is a Registered Nurse. The couple lives in the Parkville area where they are raising their four sons, ages eight to 15. West, who is a deeply spiritual person, believes his most important role now is to set a high moral tone and work ethic for his sons by his example.
