Marge Cheek, whose parents emigrated from Slovakia and Germany, was born in Newark, NJ, and raised in nearby Union. With stops in York, Joppatowne, and Monkton, she settled in Roland Park.
Married 31 years ago, Marge and her husband, Wayne, divorced three years ago after a long separation. Wayne died last February. Marge raised three children, all of whom live within a half-hour's drive of Broadmead. She has a granddaughter who is a student at the University of Delaware, and a grandson who attends the Calvert School.
Marge attended the College of William and Mary and majored in mathematics while taking electives in the art field. Deciding against having a career, she pursued an associate degree in fine arts. Marge has done a self-portrait, which she plans to bring with her to Broadmead.
She was active on the Women's Committee at the Walters for 20 years. In addition, she is a member of both the Woman's Club of Roland Park and the Wine and Food Society, where she has friends with whom she dines. Marge enjoys good food and is contemplating cooking for herself at Broadmead.
