Broadmead is pleased to announce the addition of new board member, Kerry Zimmerman.
A native of Bowie, Maryland, Kerry applied her degree from Dartmouth College, in American history and literature, towards teaching at her alma mater, Bowie High School. Eventually this led her to assume the position of test coordinator, in which capacity she supervised all standardized testing in the 3000 student school, as well as the data analysis of these tests, and implementation of instructional strategies through all of the school's academic departments. Not surprisingly, this led to some burnout, and Kerry spent a few years working in retail and regrouping. She now owns a boutique bookkeeping business, and works out of her home office.
After growing up in a Methodist household and attending a Methodist church in Bowie, Kerry was introduced to Quaker faith and practice. Although she misses the music in services, Kerry became a member of Gunpowder Friends Meeting in Sparks in 2012 and has served on the First Day School and Ministry and Counsel Committees. After serving as the meeting's Assistant Treasurer for two years, she has recently moved into the role of Treasurer of the Meeting, and in that capacity is enjoying assisting the Meeting's Working Group on Stewarding our Vision.
Kerry moved from Bowie to northern Baltimore County in 2011. She and her wife have three children and a menagerie of animals, with whom they share their country home in Freeland. In her spare time, Kerry rides the bucolic lanes of Freeland on her motorcycle, and works endlessly on rebuilding her 1963 Buick Riviera.
