Mission

As
a Quaker-directed community, Broadmead's mission reflects the Friends
beliefs in respecting the equality and dignity of each individual.

Our
Mission
Broadmead's mission is to provide
continuing care services to a diverse group of seniors in a warm,
congenial community founded and operated in the spirit of the Religious
Society of Friends.
Our
Vision
Broadmead's vision is to be a leader in
the development of high quality, innovative solutions that enrich the
lives of older people in a changing world; promote relationships; and
create opportunities as it extends its mission of service in the Quaker
tradition.
Our
Values
- Believing that all people have capacities and
strengths that can be supported and nurtured. Programs focus on a
person's wellness and abilities rather than on needs, disabilities, or
illness.
- Respecting the dignity of each individual.
Programs seek to understand and listen to the older person and to
respond with care and flexibility. This respect is accorded all,
regardless of infirmity or frailty.
- Involving residents and family members in
decisions about their own lives and surroundings, including when they
are infirm, as a way of recognizing independence and supporting the
highest possible quality of life.
- Supporting mutual respect and interaction
among those in our programs, our residents and their families, our
staff, and the wider community.
- Creating social environments that draw on the
skills and unique experiences that participants bring to the community.
- Providing nursing care for frail and confused
patients that is not dependent on the use of physical restraints.
- Involving employees in broad areas of
decision-making and treating them with respect.
- Operating under the leadership of the Board of
Trustees who carry out their business on the basis of Quaker
decision-making processes (seeking unity in decision-making) and Quaker
values.
- Managing
finances prudently, as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the
servcies of our residents.
- Believing
that the later years are full of potential for love, growth,
friendship, and contributions to others.
