For
over two decades, Broadmead
has
proven
itself to be a provider of excellent health care. As a continuing care
retirement community, we offer our residents an on-site fully staffed
outpatient clinic,
assisted
living and comprehensive nursing care. "Cluster
care" is available for those times when a resident may need a house
call. This all-inclusive
program
will give you peace of mind that your future needs have been well
planned
for. So comprehensive is our program, that many area physicians,
including
our own retired Medical Director, have chosen to live at Broadmead.
Wellness
Program
Preventive care is designed to help residents stay well
and remain independent
for as long as possible. Broadmead's
philosophy of health care is based on the concept of a partnership
between
residents and staff to assure both the optimal level of health care services and the
independent functioning
of
residents. The on-site clinic and the wellness department work
hand-in-hand to enable residents to maintain their health and to
prevent
injuries.
Directed by professional staff, the Wellness Program is
the first step
in maintaining long-term health. The staff facilitates activities and
helps
residents develop individual fitness programs designed to meet their
specific
goals. It works in tandem with our rehabilitation therapy programs and
residents
to provide balanced fitness programs for all.
In addition, the indoor swimming pool, fully-equipped
fitness room,
walking trails, and an array of exercise classes and community
activities
keep our residents young at heart. Annual events such as National
Senior
Health and Fitness Day, Nature Trail Day, and "Heels, Wheel, and Aqua
Seals"
are collaborative efforts between staff and residents that encourage
fitness,
fun and fellowship.
Health
Clinic
The Outpatient Health Clinic not only offers
daily medical care from our licensed professionals, it also arranges
appointments with specialists (including transportation when required),
and makes house calls to the apartments. The "Cluster Care" program is
unique to only a few continuing care retirement communities providing
just
that little bit of extra care needed when residents are feeling under
the
weather or recuperating from a hospital stay. On-site
physicians and nurse practitioners specialize in geriatrics. Round the
clock healthcare coverage and emergency response is provided for your
comfort
and safety. Also on staff are physical, occupational
and speech therapists. These professionals ease the transition from
hospitalization
back to independent living at no charge to you if ordered by a
Broadmead physician or nurse practitioner.
All residents enjoy the convenience of having on-site
access to a dentist,
ophthalmologist, podiatrist, audiologist, cardiologist and acupuncurist
on a fee-for-service
basis.
Each specialist works out of an office especially designed for his/her
discipline in the Community Center.
Regular trips to the drug store, also, can be crossed
off
your list after
moving to Broadmead. All
medications
prescribed by our physicians, nurse practitioners or approved
specialists
are delivered
directly
to the Reception Desk in the Community Center. What's even better is
that
you will not have to open your wallet at pick-up time. Broadmead's
extensive
contract picks up the balance of any prescriptions not
covered by Medicare
or a prescription insurance plan, when prescribed by a Broadmead
physician or nurse practitioner.

Assisted
Living
A change in the level of care for any resident is taken
very seriously
and involves input from the resident, family members and the health
care staff. Broadmead's health
care
is designed to allow residents to retain as high a level of personal
independence
for as long as possible before making a move. When totally independent
living becomes difficult, a resident can move to one of our assisted
living rooms located on Taylor Hall in the Community Center. Taylor
Hall,
licensed for assisted living care, has sixteen comfortable rooms, each
with
a private bath. Here 24-hour nursing supervision is available to assist
those needing additional help with managing the activities of daily
living.
Comprehensive
Care
A caring, professional environment is a comfort to both
the patient and
the family, when a resident is in need of restorative nursing care for
post-hospital recovery, temporary care for illnesses and injuries, long
term care, or hospice care. Broadmead's 79-bed licensed, comprehensive
care nursing center
provides round the
clock nursing and physician care. The restraint-free environment and
outdoor
wander garden allow residents to enjoy their
independence
for as long as possible. The provision of quality health care and
personal
support services is a key to allowing for the greatest measure of
personal
dignity and independence.
From time to time, Broadmead
does
accept patients on a non-contract basis. For more information about
per-diem
occupancy, call (410) 584-3381.
